Saturday, November 17, was the biggest event in early childhood history in Australia.

Big Steps Day saw over 12,000 educators, families and community supporters unite at events across the country. You can find photos and videos of the day from across the country on the Big Steps Facebook page.

We were a top story of the media all weekend.

Amongst all the colour, music, theatre and mayhem, there was a very serious message for the Federal Government: professional wages for early childhood educators are key to supporting quality for young children.

Now is our time. We only have a few more months to convince the Federal Government that they must fund professional wages in order to fix the staffing crisis and support quality for children in their most formative years.

It’s up to us to make sure politicians are hearing this everywhere they go, every day of the week. If you and your centre aren’t actively involved in your campaign yet, then now is the time to get on board. Go to the Big Steps website to find out how you can get involved!
